Sorry I have been so incognito recently. That business trip kicked my ass. And work continues to try to get the best of me. But I’m back with a lovely knitting haiku for the day:
What does not kill you
Makes you stronger than you know
Comfort through knitting
Remember that bubble gum yarn I brought along on that biz trip? Well, one night in the hotel room and I lovingly transformed it into a kitty pi for my dear friend Karen who plays the part of Pepper in 2good4u. What is 2good4u? Well, the first all female boy band of course! Check it out at www.2good4usf.com. Yes, I am that lame that I can’t put a link in my page. Here is a picture of it stretched over the bucket. I forgot to take pictures of it in it’s loopy form. Bah!
OK, I’m off to celebrate Otter’s birthday down in Santa Cruz–I promise to post hilarious pictures Sunday.

Rotten pain. Pushed myself too far–just by walking six blocks in New York City. Had two Vicodine. Cried in pain. It’s awful being in pain and away from home and my sweetie and my kitten.
Meetings going–most great except for one missed with Mtv. And an annoying email from a co-worker. You just can’t do it all. Period. Must set better expectations. I cried to my boss about it. I feel so lucky to have such a great boss. Makes up for all of the rotten ones I’ve had in the past.
OK, enough of a rant. I’m going to bed. To dream of babies. And jogging.

The sacrificial lamb for this trip is the cord to my computer. Since I am living on borrowed online time, this will be a short post.
The plane-ride to JFK was very easy thanks to my dear friend Rosymare, who gave me a copy of Ruth Reichel’s Comfort Me With Apples–the most delicious and perfectly cozy book to read on a plane. What a dear soul Rosymare is. She remembered a comment a friend made more than six months ago about a book he recommended to me and sent it to me as part of my get better package, that she so lovingly created for me.
I was so touched when I opened the package and found all of these lovely yummy books in it that I broke down into tears–I was just so touched. I adore her more than I can put into words. We are playing a heated game of phone tag right now. R- if you are out there, I’m going to call you!
OK, I’m off to brave the wind chill and grab some low calorie sushi.

Man, there is nothing worse than packing for a business trip.
(But of course the first thing I packed was some pink bulky wool that I hope will magically turn into a cat bed by the end of the trip when I return Wednesday morning.)
I can lay everything out and take precautions, but I always forget something–the one thing that is an absolutely pain in the ass to forget and will have me running down to Duane Reade at 7:22AM in the morning. Like my hairbrush or forgetting to pack sock in January. Or leaving my phone charger in the socket at home. I am waiting in dread to find out what item will be forgotten.
And there is always something that I forget. In a way it’s rather comforting. Forgetting something is kinda like my own weird subconscious sacraficial lamb that must die in order for all of my meetings go well. So what if I have to pay $7.84 for a travel size tube of toothpaste that tast like crap–it is worth it if the trip goes smoothly.
I hope to remember this cup-half-full-optimism when I’m cursing out the bellman for not knowing where I can buy an umbrella at 6:00AM in the morning…

Hi, I know–I know–everyone has done this and yeah, it’s totally overdone, so forgive my complete self indulgence, but just think of it as a chance to find out more about me, since I’m so elusive…
Four jobs I’ve had in my life
1: bookshelver at library
2: costume seamstress

4: Rushmore (actually all movies by Wes Anderson)
Four places I have lived
1: San Francisco
2: Poughkeepsie, NY!
3: The Main Line

Four TV shows I love to watch
1: Project Runway
2: Lost
3: Rollergirls
4: Miami Ink

Four places I would rather be right now
1: Home knitting away
2: Hanging out at a bar in SF with my friends
3: Under a nice thatched roof at a five star hotel in Fiji or Tahaiti with my sweetie
4: At my LYS store with a black AmEx–completely taken from Yummy Yarn, but I gotta agree and bonus for the black AmEx–an old client of mine had one and we went crazy–Vegas style–in a store once with it
Four peeps I have tagged
Consider yourself tagged!

Tonight’s episode of Bear Hospital may feature graphic images and content not suitable for children.
Two tragic cases came in the mail from my sister-in-law. Presents from Christmas past.
And now for the gruesome close-ups. Please have smelling salts in hand…

Look at this poor girl bear. Obviously, a torn hem would make any fashion-conscious bear lose her head! But I must admit I bought this little gem–I don’t crochet–but thought it would be the perfect present for my little niece. Obviously it’s been loved to death. Or tormented, but I’m hoping for the former.
But there is no excuse for THIS!

Friend’s birthday next week
Knitting as fast as I can
Hat she’ll never wear
Boy that’s sad. Instead I tore it out and decided to knit her a kitty pi bed for her beloved cat. Seriously, the woman loves her cat to the point of pain. I think she’ll like that much more than a hat. And it’s pink. Her little black cat will look so cute in it. And she’s an older cat, so I think having a nice little wooly patch to call her own would be nice on her old kitty bones.
So, I have three projects unfinished right now… Not too bad…

My dear friend Suzy brought me back yarn from New Zealand. How amazing is that?

The picture really doesn’t do them justice, but I guess that is normal for yarn on Websites, isn’t it?
I am going to turn these beauties into some fuzzy and warm scarflets for friends.
Please forgive the shorter posts. Work is kicking my down a flight of stairs. Who know coming back from six weeks of medical leave would be harder than surgery?
But I am making a bit of progress on the meadow birch shawl. I like that as I knit this thing, the rows get shorter and shorter. I took out the markers between each pattern repeat–I just felt they were getting in the way. BAH! I’ll post a shot this weekend, so you can see my progress. I’ve been rather slow with it–I didn’t do a stitch yesterday and instead watched the Brother Grimm with my boyfriend Heath Ledger. It was very Terry Gilliam inspired to say the least.
Tonight I’m off to see the ballet with my friend Andrea. Which I’m sure will make me want to knit something pink afterwards. I’ve always loved that ballet shoe pink, but every time I wear it, it immediately washes me out and makes me gain 10 lbs. Not cute.
