Here is a knitting meme that I found on Elizabeth’s great blog, A Mingled Yarn. Perfect for the new year.

1. What is your absolute favorite project you’ve ever knit (one that fulfilled both process and product)?

That is such a tough question. I think that is a hard one because so often the knits take on greater proportion because I knit them during certain times of my life. Like knitting Eric socks was a joy to do because it was for Eric. Or when I knit this big bulky sweater for a friend when I was away on vacation with Eric.

But I believe my favorite knit was the one I wear the most–the Apricot sweater from Rebecca because I made it while I was convalescing from my surgery at my parents place in Florida and I felt with each stitch I was knitting my body back together at the same time. It felt really good. And I’d heard that people had problems making it, but it was for some reason a breeze for me!

2. Which of your handknits do you wear the most often?

That’s easy–my Apricot Jacket from Rebecca that I made at the beginning of the year. Not only was it a joy to knit, but I’ve worn it to bits!

3. Which of your handknits are you most proud of?

Well, I made this lovely little matinee coat pattern that I made for a friend at work. I didn’t take a single picture of it, but it was absolutely gorgeous!

And my socks. It’s amazing that something so small that gives me such pleasure as sock knitting can create something so wearable and pretty as a sock.

4. What was your favorite gift to knit?

Hands down baby sweaters! Particularly for first borns because every child deserves to come into the world with something handknit waiting for them. And each sweater is completely unique just like the baby will be. And the mothers really appreciate it the effort that I put into them. Truly they are a joy to knit!

5. Which of your handknits are gathering dust your closet?

Ha! Almost all of them with the exception of the Apricot jacket. And my socks. I have knit four sweaters for myself this year and only one of them has been worn outside of my house. I think that says a lot about my sweater knitting in general. I need to not be swayed by the pretty pictures and pick a sweater that I know will look good on me.

6. Which of your handknits have you gotten rid of?

Sigh! There are so many. I guess every one of my sweaters with the exception of the Apricot jacket. I think the goal for next year is to make two sweaters that I actually keep and wear!

7. If you’ve knit socks, what is your favorite pattern?

I think I like my little sanity sock pattern the best. And to rely on pretty funky self striping/hand dyed socks to snap them up a bit in color.

8. What would you like to make in 2007?

I was thinking about that this morning–what I would like to knit.  I guess you know you are a true knitter when you wake up New Year’s day thinking about what knits you’d like to do this year. Tee hee!

First off, I’d like to finish the items I started this year. I know many knitters have three or more projects going at the same time, but I like to work on one a finish it. But even I break the solo streak a lot because of my serial baby knitting and it looks like there are going to be at least EIGHT babies I need to knit for this year alone(two sets of twins).

But in between knitting baby sweaters I’d like to 1.) reknit the slouchy cardigan and 2.) finish the sweater I started my sweetie. Husbands need to be kept warm! And of course knit some more socks.  And after that, I’ll just play it by ear.

9. What have you learned about your craft in 2006?

I think the most important thing I learned this year was knitting socks from the toe up on two needles. It rekindled my love of knitting socks. The only problem is everyone wants a pair of socks now!

10. What events/sites have you particularly enjoyed in the blogosphere in 2006?

There are so many!

Well, Lolly’s Socktoberfest was genius. Such a simple idea, but perfectly joyful. Also, I love her blog. Her knitting is rather similar to mine–it’s about calming and enjoying the process and she cranks out some beautiful items to boot!

This year is also one of the first years that I branched out into reading blogs other than knitting blogs and have found some amazing crafty blogs that I enjoy so much such as Posy Gets Cozy ” target=”new”>Posy Gets Cozy and another goodie is:  A Dress A Day.

So, what about you all?

And happy happy new year to everyone!
